STATE FAIR OREGON
Each year the fun and festive State Fair/ Oregon provides a celebration
of all that is abundant in Oregon. Concerts are being lined up for the 2006
Oregon State Fair which will be held from August 25 through September 4,
2006. There are a number of attractions being planned and families can enjoy a
variety of activities at the Oregon State Fair.
The
State Fair in Oregon was considered to have started unofficially in 1858
as farmers united to create this event which would bring people together for
social contact and to exchange goods and information. By the early 1860s, Salem
had been chosen as the official location of the State Fair/ Oregon. This
was an appropriate choice since Salem lies in the heart of the fertile
Willamette Valley and includes a majority of the Oregon wine country.
